NEW DELHI: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has tested positive for coronavirus, the actor announced on Twitter.

“I have tested CoviD positive .. shifted to Hospital .. hospital informing authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited .. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested,” the 77-year-old actor tweeted.

The actor has been admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai.

A hospital spokesperson confirmed he got admitted a few hours ago and is undergoing extensive tests.

Bachchan has been leading the way in the country’s fight against the novel coronavirus. From appearing in public service ads to lending support to relief efforts, he has been doing it all.

Over the past months, Celebrities including Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor and others announced that members of their staff had tested positive for the virus.

Bachchan, who has a couple of films including ‘Brahmastra’, ‘Chehre’, and ‘Jhundremaining’ left to be completed, was not allowed to return to the film sets owing to the government’s lockdown rules for senior actors.

Early this morning reports stated that fellow B-town actress Rekha’s building was sealed by the BMC after a security guard tested positive for COVID-19. According to reports, one of the two security guards tested COVID-19 positive just a few days ago and is currently under treatment at a facility in BKC, Mumbai.
