Brazil’s president recently announced that vaccination won’t be made mandatory in the country. A similar move was announced by epidemiologist and US Infectious Disease Expert, Dr Anthony Fauci. A recent survey also pointed out evidence that 35 per cent of Americans wouldn’t get a COVID-19 vaccine even if it were free.
Anti-vaccination waves are also being experienced in India. There have been reports of fake messages and anti-vaxxers movement finding pace through social media channels in the country. While the pace is slow and still isolated right now, nonetheless, vaccine hesitancy is growing.
Much like the problem of inequitable distribution, vaccine hesitancy can also make the pandemic worse.
