Angry over BMC bulldozing actor Kangana Ranaut’s office, many social media users are sharing photos of ‘illegally constructed’ structures lamenting lack of action against them.
One such Facebook user ‘Virat Hindu’ posted an image of a mosque situated bang in the middle of the road to claim that there were over 200 illegal mosques in Mumbai.
“There are thousands of Islamic shrines right in the middle of a road but BMC found only Kangana’s office illegally constructed,” the user wrote.
Same image of the mosque was shared on Twitter as well by users who claimed that it was located in Mumbai’s Bandra.

This mosque is in Madhya Pradesh’s (MP) Sagar district.
VERIFICATION AND METHODOLOGY
Using reverse-image search, we found the same photo carried by a portal called ‘Job Vacancy’. The portal identified the location of the mosque as Katra Bazaar in Sagar city of MP.
Taking a cue from this, we used keywords ‘Katra Bazaar Sagar mosque’ and found an image of Jama Masjid in Katra Bazaar, Sagar posted by Just Dial.
This image was taken from the front angle as opposed to the drone angle for the image posted above. We compared both the images and found a lot of similarities.
Thereafter, we searched ‘Jama Masjid Katra Bazaar’ on Google maps and found the structure of the mosque to be the same as that of the structure of the mosque posted above in the claim.
Times Fact Check has found that the image of a mosque from MP’s Sagar is being falsely passed off as that from Mumbai’s Bandra. The mosque is indeed situated right in the centre of a road in Sagar city, but it is not from Mumbai.
