On 11/08/2020, NIOT announced Job notification to hire candidates who completed B.Tech/B.E for the position of Scientist-B.

Qualification Details:

National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, is functioning with broad objectives of promoting technology development in various mission mode activities in Ocean Engineering and Ocean Resource utilization. The institute invites online applications through the website link http://www.niot.res.in/index.php/recruitment for direct recruitment to the following posts from talented and motivated Indian citizens possessing the qualifications prescribed in the table below:-

3. Qualification Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Marine Engineering from a recognized University with at least First Class (60% marks) in the qualifying degree level. 4. Job Requirement i) Ship management, Participating in cruises as representative of NIOT, ship maintenance monitoring. ii) Assist in Deployment and Retrieval of floating and underwater systems from ships. iii) Design of Mechanical Systems / Structures & Fabrication, Assembly, Integration and Testing in the Lab / Sea. iv) CAD and CFD applications with softwares like AUTOCAD, ANSYS, Solid Works and PRO-E.

General Instructions and Procedure for submitting application for Posts through Direct Recruitment:

1. Candidate must be a citizen of India.

2. The application form is available online on NIOT website http://www.niot.res.in/index.php/ recruitment. The candidate has to fill the application online and upload recent passport size photograph (to enable issue of admit card for appearing test) latest by 07.09.2020 upto 5.30 p.m. Upon submission, an online Registration Number will be provided by the system.

3. After allotment of Registration Number, the candidate has to take print out of the application and send the same duly signed along with self-attested copies of the following certificates to reach the Director, National Institute of Ocean Technology, Velachery – Tambaram Main Road, Pallikaranai, Chennai – 600100, India within 07 days (15 days for those in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and Kashmir State Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub-division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Union Territory of Lakshadweep) from the date of closing of online submission. (a) Educational Qualification Certificates from 10th Standard onwards. 4. Request for change/correction in the Application Form shall not be entertained under any circumstance.

5. Late/incomplete applications, Online applications without hardcopy or vice versa will be rejected.

6. Paste a recent passport size photograph in the space provided for at the right top portion on the first page in the hard copy of the application. The application form without photograph/signature or with Blurred photograph/signature or incomplete in any manner will summarily be rejected

7. The Crucial Date for determining the possession of ‘AGE AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION (EQs)/EXPERIENCE’ will be the closing date for filling up Registration Part/Application part of the application Provided that (a) Upper age relaxable for Govt. Selection Procedure :

Screening of Applications for the Post of Scientist-F (Electrical): The preliminary screening of the applications will be based on candidate’s qualifying credentials against (i) the essential requirements specified above, (ii) date of birth (inclusive of relaxation of age as applicable), (iii) completeness of the application like providing the details sought, submission of the passport size photograph, and copies of the marks list, academic and experience certificates, signature etc. (iv) essential experience, (v) desirable qualification and experience as specified in the above. The candidate’s experience certificates shall be in the format attached, clearly specifying whether he/she possess the experience / knowledge / skills / meeting the experience requirements. The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum requirements and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. The application complete in all respect will be screened by a duly constituted committee. The Committee will scrutinize the experience possessed by the candidate with reference to the job requirement and shortlist the number of application to a reasonable limit. The final selection of the candidate will be based on the candidate’s performance in the interview. No correspondence will be entertained with candidates who are not called for interview/selected for appointment.

Criteria for Short-listing of applicants for Interview: The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum requirements and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for written test / interview. If the number of applications received in response to advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible to call all candidates for interview. Hence, NIOT may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to the reasonable limit through Short listing Process by adopting suitable criteria, like cut off marks in the minimum educational qualification, relevant experience in the field (or) by a written test. The criteria for short listing the applications will be set by a Committee constituted to screen the applications depending upon the number of application received. a. For the purpose of arriving the percentage of marks, the Institute will follow the yardstick adopted by the University/Institution/Board and take into account the percentage of marks as indicated in the Final Year Marks Statement. b. NIOT will not take the responsibility of working out the percentage of marks by adding up the marks secured by the candidates in different subjects/each year of Graduation and instead take into account the percentage of marks / CGPA as indicated in the Final Year Marks Statement. c. Where the Merit of the candidate is indicated in the Final Year Marks Statement in CGPA without indicating the corresponding percentage of marks, NIOT will follow the criteria indicated by the University/Institution in the Certificate/Mark statement submitted by the candidate, if any, for arriving at the corresponding percentage. In all other cases, NIOT will apply the conversion formula of CGPA (as indicated in the Final Year Marks Statement) multiplied by (x) 9.5. The written test will be of qualifying nature. The final selection of the candidate will be based on the candidate’s performance in the interview. No correspondence will be entertained with candidates who are not called for interview/selected for appointment

Screening of Applications for the Post of Technician Grade – A: The preliminary screening of the applications will be based on candidate’s qualifying credentials against (i) the essential requirements specified above, (ii) date of birth (inclusive of relaxation of age as applicable), (iii) completeness of the application like providing the details sought, submission of the passport size photograph, and copies of the marks list, academic and experience certificates, signature etc. (iv) essential experience, (v) desirable qualification and experience as specified in the above. The candidate’s experience certificates should be in the format attached clearly specifying whether they possess the experience / knowledge / skills / requested in the essential / desirable experience requirements. Criteria for Short-listing of applicants for Test a. The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum requirements and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for Test. If the number of application, received in response to advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible to call all candidates for Test. Hence, the Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for Test to the reasonable limit through Short listing Process by adopting suitable criteria, like percentage of marks in Essential Qualifications as indicated by them in their application. b. In such case, Candidates will be shortlisted roughly in the ratio of 1:50, subject to availability of sufficient number of eligible candidates. Candidates will be shortlisted by applying suitable cut-off in the percentage of marks, in multiples of five. The number of candidates shortlisted may be slightly more or less due to the criteria of applying cut off in multiples of five. c. For the purpose of short listing of candidates for Test, the Institute will follow the yardstick adopted by the Institution/Board and take into account the percentage of marks as indicated in the Final Year Marks Statement. d. NIOT will not take the responsibility of working out the percentage of marks by adding up the marks secured by the candidates in different subjects/each year of the course and instead take into account the percentage of marks / CGPA as indicated in the Final Year Marks Statement. e. Where the Merit of the candidate is indicated in the Final Year Marks Statement in CGPA without indicating the corresponding percentage of marks, NIOT will follow the criteria indicated by the University/Institution in the Certificate, if any, for arriving at the corresponding percentage. In all other cases, NIOT will apply the conversion formula of CGPA (as indicated in the Final Year Marks Statement) multiplied by (x) 9.5. f. The criteria followed in short listing candidates will be final. No appeal or representation will be entertained against such Short listing criteria. The final selection of the candidate will be based on the candidate’s performance in the Trade Test/Written Test. who qualified in the Skill test. No correspondence will be entertained with candidates who are not called for Test.
