NEW DELHI: Passenger vehicles (PVs) sales plunged 49.59 per cent in June to 1,05,617, according to data released by SIAM on Tuesday.
In a year-ago period, 2,09,522 units were sold in the domestic market.
Disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic impacted exports as it fell by 56.31 per cent in June at 24,708 units. In June 2019, 56,556 units were passenger vehicles were exported.
The production of passenger vehicles was also in red zone in June 2020. The production nosedived by 57.74 per cent at 1,07,477.
In April-June (quarter 1 of financial year 2020-21), sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market declined by 78.43 per cent at 1,53,734 units.
