The massive rain lashed Mumbai and its neighbouring districts for the third consecutive day on Sunday, resulting in water-logging in many low-lying areas. The incessant rain made the Powai lake overflowing, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. The Mumbai Police have issued an advisory and urged people to stay away from the sea shore and waterlogged areas. The fishermen were also urged to not venturing out into the sea. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai and neighbouring areas in next two days. Water-logging was reported in several Mumbai areas such as Chembur, Wadala, Dharavi, Andheri, Hindmata junction, Khar subway, Milan subway and Dahisar subway. “The heavy showers have led to water logging at several places across the city. We request Mumbaikars to stay updated through official sources and plan moving out likewise,” the Mumbai Police said in a tweet. According to reports, the Powai lake in suburban Mumbai began overflowing at 6 am on Sunday. Pune, Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Satara, Kolhapur, Parbhani, Nanded, Hingoli are also likely to receive heavy rains, IMD said.  (BCCL)Read Less
